THE WAVE AND THE OSCILLATOR

Sound synthesis can be broadly defined as the process of generating and manipulating sound waves eletronically. At it's core lies one key component; the oscillator. The oscillator can be thought of as the basic generator from which sound is produced. Around this all other elements base themselves. A synthesizer can be hardware based or digital, and in some cases a combination of both and can be broken down into two main categories; digital and analog.
